RECLION

Record Like A Lion

Your screen recorder. Your file. No cloud.

RECLION is a fast, local-first screen recorder for Windows. Capture your screen, your webcam, and your mic, then trim the awkward bits and export to MP4 in seconds. Recordings stay on your machine. Always.

One-time $29. Free upgrades to v2.0 and every future version. Price goes to $59 with v2.0, so buying now locks in early-access pricing for life. 14-day refund if it’s not for you.

What makes Reclion different

Local-first

Recordings live in Videos\Reclion\, not in our cloud. We never see them. RECLION makes no outbound network calls while you record.

Polished output

Gold cursor halo, soft click ripples, friendly webcam circle that snaps to corners, frame-accurate trim, hardware-accelerated H.264 (NVENC, Quick Sync, AMF, with software fallback).

One-time price, free upgrades

Buy it, own it. No monthly bill, no upload caps, no feature paywalls. Pay $29 once and every future version is yours, free. v2.0 will be $59 for new buyers; you keep $29.

Built for actual work

Tutorial creators, software demoers, support engineers, teachers, PMs, and solo developers. Anyone who needs to ship a clean recording in under two minutes without uploading their work to someone else’s server.

Polish without a learning curve

Cursor halo, click ripples, webcam bubble, trim handles, variable speed export. Everything Loom does, none of the cloud, none of the subscription.

Honest scope

We don’t pretend RECLION is OBS or Camtasia. It’s a focused screen recorder plus light editor that does its job in 10 seconds. See limitations below; we list them up front.

Feature highlights

Capture what matters

Full display, single window, multi-monitor aware. Window picker shows live thumbnails.

Webcam circle or fullscreen

Live camera, static profile picture, or no overlay. Drag the bubble; it snaps to corners. Swap to fullscreen mid-recording for talking-head intros.

Cursor highlight + click ripples

Soft gold halo around the pointer and animated rings on every click. Tutorials read unambiguously.

3-second countdown

Full-screen countdown on the target display before record starts, so you’re never caught mid-blink.

Floating recording bar

Always-on-top, frameless, content-protected. Hosts pause, resume, stop, restart, mic mute, webcam toggle, layout swap, and screenshot.

Pause without seams

Pause and resume produces one continuous file. No silent gaps, no A/V drift.

Hardware-accelerated H.264

Auto-detects NVIDIA NVENC, Intel Quick Sync, or AMD AMF. Software fallback (libx264) so it always exports.

Trim, split, speed

Frame-accurate trim handles, internal cuts, and playback speed pills (1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 1.75×, 2×) with audio pitch preserved.

Annotations baked at export

Blur a region, drop text on a frame, draw an arrow. Each annotation supports a start and end window so it appears only when relevant.

Export and email

Opens Explorer with your file pre-selected and your default mail client with a draft, so you can drag-and-drop in one motion.

Hotkeys

Ctrl+Shift+R to start, Ctrl+Shift+S to stop, from anywhere on Windows.

Auto-stop on suspend or shutdown

You’ll never lose a recording to a closed laptop lid.

vs Loom: same UX polish, your file stays on your disk, no monthly bill.

vs OBS: 90% of the use cases without the streaming-studio learning curve.

vs Camtasia: tenth of the price, native multi-track annotations, the same hardware-accelerated export.

Use cases

  • Tutorial creators: record step-by-step walkthroughs with a friendly webcam bubble and animated click ripples that make every interaction unambiguous.
  • Software demoers: show off a feature, trim the awkward dead air, email a 30-second polished MP4 to a prospect.
  • Support engineers: capture a customer-reported bug, attach to your ticket. Click ripples make every step clear.
  • Teachers and educators: record lectures or assignment walkthroughs without forcing students through a cloud signup wall.
  • PMs and designers: explain a Figma flow or product change in 90 seconds. Faster than a meeting.
  • Solo developers: narrate code or terminal sessions. Your code stays on your disk.

What RECLION doesn’t do

We’re up-front about scope:

  • Live annotations during recording. Annotations (Blur, Text, Arrow) are added in the post-recording editor and baked in at export, not painted on screen while you record.
  • WebM, GIF, or MOV export. MP4 only.
  • Cloud share links. Local file only. Use email or your own uploader.
  • Captions or subtitles. None.
  • Speed below 1.0×.Only 1.0× to 2.0× supported (designed for compressing dead air, not slow-motion).
  • Multiple webcams or mics. Single cam, single mic at a time.
  • DRM-protected content. Netflix, banking apps, and certain protected windows appear black in the recording. Enforced by Windows, not by us.
  • macOS or Linux. Windows only for the foreseeable future.

If any of those are dealbreakers, RECLION isn’t the right fit yet.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 (64-bit, 1903 or newer) or Windows 11
  • 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended for 4K capture)
  • DirectX 11 GPU
  • For best export speed: NVIDIA, Intel, or AMD GPU with H.264 hardware encoder (RECLION auto-detects).

FAQ

Are my recordings ever uploaded?
No. Recording, editing, and exporting are 100% offline. The only thing the app talks to our server about is your license: every two weeks at most.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to activate your license on first launch and re-validate roughly every two weeks. After that, you can record fully offline for up to 30 days at a time.
Can I move my license to another PC?
Yes. Sign in at reclion.com/dashboard, click “Release device” on your current PC, then activate on the new one. Single device at a time, but you can switch as often as you need.
What happens when v2.0 ships?
Existing early-access customers upgrade to v2.0 for free. The $59 v2.0 price is for new buyers only. Buy now at $29 and every future version comes with your license, no extra charge.
Refunds?
14 days, no questions asked. Email through your dashboard support page within 14 days of purchase and we’ll refund. Full details on the Refund Policy.
My antivirus flagged the installer.
Some heuristic AV engines flag unsigned Electron installers. Code-signing certificates are in progress. In the meantime, verify the SHA-256 hash from the download page.
Is RECLION open source?
No. The desktop is closed source. We may release components or specs over time.
